Wollemi Energy Consultants is an advisory group founded by John Chambers in 2022 to help bridge the gap between Governments, Investors and Stakeholders impacted by Resource Projects.
The name comes from the Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis) that was known only through fossil records until 1994, when the Australian species Wollemia nobilis was discovered in a temperate rainforest wilderness area of the Wollemi National Park in New South Wales. It was growing in a remote series of narrow, steep-sided, sandstone gorges 150 km (93 mi) north-west of Sydney. The genus is named after the National Park

Energy is the basis of modern civilization but its production, distribution and impact needs careful planning, analysis and communication to all stakeholders. A fair balance between "Investor Return" and "State Revenue" is required if economies are to flourish and nations develop. Wollemi Energy Consultants provides advisory services in the energy sector with a focus on challenges in the energy transition in developing nations.
BIO
John Chambers founded Wollemi Energy Consultants in 2022 after a 38-year career as a global energy executive across exploration, development and production activity in technical, commercial and senior management roles.
John retired from Santos at end 2022 where he had been Vice President for Offshore Upstream, Northern Australia and Timor Leste and was involved in developing the framework for the repurposing of the Bayu Undan Development to a Carbon Capture and Sequestration Project.
John has variously held roles in Santos as Vice President Santos PNG, Asia Pacific Exploration Manager, President Santos Bangladesh, Country Manager Santos Vietnam, Country Manager Santos India and Exploration Manager Onshore Australia.
Prior to joining Santos, John worked extensively throughout Western Australia, Southeast Asia and South America for Woodside, LASMO and Venture Production.
John has a BSC (Hons) Degree with a Geology major from University of Melbourne and a combined UNISA/UCL MBA with an energy focus and is a Graduate of AICD.

Minimising environmental impacts while developing resources and local skills should always be a key focus for any investment or fiscal regime.
